An educationist and author of the ‘United Nations’ Partnership with God’, Dr. Kelicha Ochonogor, has urged Nigerians to shun discrimination and embrace peaceful co-existence.
Ochonogor, a fellow of the African British Academy, noted that living peacefully would foster progress and development in the country.
The educationist made this call to commemorate the 2022 International World Peace Day, held at Covenant University Sango-Ota, Ogun State.
The event was organised by the College of Leadership Development studies of the University in conjunction with the United Nations to mark world peace day in Nigeria.
Ochonogor, who unveiled her new book, “United Nations partnership with God” declared that the forthcoming election would determine the state of peace and harmony in the nation.
She urged politicians in the country to avoid violence.
She said, “We can achieve peace in Nigeria by shunning every form of discrimination and stopping every form of violence.
“I want them to project themselves without discrediting the order, they should not incite the public against violence. Everything should be done in peace and harmony.
“Especially in this period that we are, the outcome of the 2023 election will go a long way to test the peace and harmony of this nation.
“Starting from their campaigning, they should desist from anything that will incite the public against violence.
“We all have leaders we look up to. So, for now, each of the three known political platforms, APC, PDP, and Labour party, all have their followers, whatever they do now will go a long way to foster peace, progress, and peaceful co-existence within the Nigerian community and, by extension, the world.
“So, they should please shun every form of violence and foster peace, they should project themselves and let us see what they are capable of doing and then give us the freewill to choose who we want to choose, the truth is that everyone cannot be on the same side, we all have choices.”
She, however, stated that the book was published to project harmony and partnership amongst people.
She explained that the book identifies the United Nations 17 Sustainable Development Goals within the ambit of the word of God to foster humanity and sustain a good life for everyone on Earth.
