An accomplished educationist and Proprietor of Victory Group of Schools in Lagos and Osun states, Chief (Dr.) Christian Francis Ipoola Olaniyan, who passed on Tuesday, April 5, 2022 at a private hospital in Lagos at the age of 93, will be laid to rest on Saturday, June 18, 2022.
Pa Olaniyan would be taken to Ode-Omu in Osun State for burial after a church service at Bola Memorial Anglican Church, Abule-Onigbagbo, Ikeja, on Friday 17, 2022.
Olaniyan was born into an ‘educational family’ as his father was known and addressed as ‘Teacher Laniyan’ within and outside his immediate community.
He taught in many schools in Osun, Oyo and Lagos states as Vice Principal and Principal. His last place of work, Oriwu College, Ikorodu, as Principal.
He is survived by wives, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Pa Olaniyan inherited teaching profession from his late father and mother.
Undaunted Pa Olaniyan established the first private school, Victory High School, Ikeja, in 1969 followed with other seven in Lagos and Osun States.
In 1983, he was a Commissioner f o r Establishment and Training in old Oyo State under Dr. Omololu Olunloyo as governor, while his government was truncated in December the same year.
The deceased was honoured with many awards, traditional titles both in Lagos and Osun states.
Olaniyan who was once a President of Ikeja Club and many other notable organisations, was a former Director of Bank of Commerce and Industry and others.
He established Victory Home School, Ikeja, 1975, Victory Homme School, Ojota, Victory Home School, Ode-Omu, Victory School of Catering and Hotel Management. Until his death, he was the Managing/Proprietor of eight Schools and was the sitting Principal of one of them (Victory Grammar School, Ikeja).
Olaniyan was installed as the Atunluse of Ode-Omu, October 3, 1982; Installed Bobajiro of Ikejaland November, 9 1985; Installed Baagbimo of Onigbagbo/Opebi, Ikejaland July, 1988.
He was also appointed as a Justice of Peace (JP) by Osun Sate Government on the 8th of September, 1995.
He was installed Baba Ijo of St. David’s Anglican Church, Ode-Omu, 26th Dec.1994 and 6th June, 1998. Babasale (Patron) Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Ode-Omu branch etc.
He was appointed member, Board Of Trustees, Kings University, Ode-Ommu, Osun State, 2015,; Attended the World Scout Winter jamboree in Quebec Canada, DEC. 1999/2000.
He is survived with wives, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
