The Lagos police command has allegedly detained five police escorts attached to Grammy award-winning singer Burna Boy for shooting civilians.

According to reports, the police escorts had opened fire at the clubgoers at Club Cubana on Victoria Island, Lagos.
The singer had visited the club alongside his police escorts around 4 am on June 8, and while four of them waited outside, one policeman identified as Inspector Ibrahim had followed Burna Boy into the club.
Multiple witnesses claim that the singer had asked Ibrahim to invite a woman to join him in VIP, and the lady’s husband had insisted that it was disrespectful for him to make advances at his wife.
However, after a few minutes, Burna Boy reportedly made fresh advances at her, infuriating the husband and his friends.
As things got heated, Ibrahim is alleged to have shot his service pistol multiple times while Burna Boy laughed. The shots hit 27-year-old Irebami Lawrence in the thigh and his friend Tolu in the head.
After the shooting, Burna Boy reportedly left the country for Spain the next day.
Jide, Irebami’s brother, took to social media to call out the singer, informing the public that his brother had returned to Nigeria for his wedding a week ago. He also accused Cubana’s management of being complicit and not trying to forestall the situation, adding that they had failed to reach out to his family since the incident.

Meanwhile, spokesman for the state police command Benjamin Hundeyin has stated that the policemen were the focus of the investigation, adding that they had not received a complaint from the victim.
Burna Boy and his team are yet to address these allegations.
Violence allegations
This is not the “Twice As tall” singer’s first allegation of targeted violence.
In fact, in 2017, he was declared wanted by the Lagos police command in connection with the robbery attack on Mr. 2kay at Eko Hotel and Suites.
The gang leader of the suspected robbers, Tunmise Omotore, had claimed that they acted on the instruction of Burna Boy’s road manager at the time, Joel Kantiock.
However, both singers seem to have settled their beef after being spotted partying together in 2021.
