“My game has come a long way since I began at Arsenal,” Turner told MLS Soccer.
“Just the speed and the intensity of everything, every single day. Mikel [Arteta] doesn’t accept anything except full-gas at training sessions, so you have to bring it every single day, or else you get found out pretty quickly out there on the pitch.
“For me, it’s the consistency that I have to bring every day in training, being ready for moments where I’m going to be able to get to play and overall just the speed, technical execution of things, making saves against world-class players every day in training, sometimes getting found out by world-class players in training. But all the while learning.”
“It’s not time to talk about them as title contenders yet, but people now know that this is a different Arsenal to the team we saw just 13 months ago.
“The Gunners’ 3-0 win at Brentford on Sunday epitomised their progress under Mikel Arteta, because we all remember what happened in this fixture on the opening weekend of last season – when the Bees didn’t just beat them, they bullied them.
“Everything was different about Arsenal this time – in attack and defence, plus the way they controlled the game, and with their attitude and intensity. They ran out comfortable winners.
“Part of that was down to how bad Brentford were, but it was Arsenal’s performance that made the Bees play so poorly.”
Some surprises in there. Bukayo Saka will feel harshly done by, but a big upgrade (+6) for Aaron Ramsdale!
No doubt the new signings of Gabriel Jesus, Oleksandr Zinchenko and Fabio Vieira will be fun to use.
William Saliba finally in an Arsenal shirt will also be another one to look out for, with decent pace ratings for a solid defender.
“I’m not going to speak too much about my contract situation at the moment.
“I didn’t leave Leicester in the summer as I always said the project had to be the right one.
“Just because things are getting worse now at Leicester doesn’t mean I should regret [staying].”
Saliba has been so, so impressive since breaking into the Arsenal team this summer.
Helping the team both at the front and back of the pitch, the Frenchman has established himself as a key part of the side – and says he’s loving life at Arsenal.
“I’m at home here,” Saliba told Sky Sports.
“I like London, I like the club, I like everything. I feel at home here.”
The France international’s future has been the cause of much speculation, but it looks as though he could be set for a new contract with the club.
